Governors

At Peel Common Nursery and Infant School we have a committed and dedicated Governing Body.  All governors work to ensure the effective management of the school alongside the Senior Leadership Team and contribute a range of skills from a variety of backgrounds.  The relationship between the Governors and the Headteacher and staff is one of support and challenge.

Governors are volunteers who serve for a period of four years.  Our Governors are often in school, formally and informally, keeping in touch with school life.  Our Governors meet regularly throughout the year as a full governing body.

Governors have input on the following:

  • How the school budget will be spent
  • Long term plans and the direction of the school
  • School policies
  • Health and Safety, and the repair and maintenance of the school
  • The quality of provision for all children, and setting targets for improvement
  • Attendance
  • Staffing matters
  • Parental queries
